The Jamaican expression ‘BATTY BWOY’ is a discriminatory slang term for a queer person. By reappropriating these myths of a perverse and deviant body, Harald Beharie hijacks and transforms these figures, the better to attack and embrace them. This solo is the emergence of an ambivalent being, at once vulnerable, powerful and joyful.
