Emmanuel Eggermont‘s solo is conceived as an elegy to Raimund Hoghe, an evocation of love and death. To address the relationship between his work and that of the German choreographer, he freely and instinctively moves back and forth between the two repertoires, fusing graphic and musical references. A new work, About Love and Death, has emerged from this conversation.
Previous work with Le Gymnase: Aberration (Le Grand Bain 2023), All Over Nympheas (Le Grand Bain 2022), Pólis (Le Grand Bain 2017),
La méthode des phosphènes (Les Petits Pas 2019), Vorspiel (2014), Strange Fruit (Le Grand Bain 2015)

Thursday 13 March: This evening begins with a discussion of Raimund Hoghe’s work with Emmanuel Eggermont.
RAIMUND/EMMANUEL CYCLE
To describe his work, Raimund Hoghe liked to quote Pier Paolo Pasolini: ‘Throw your body into the battle’.
By celebrating the beauty of the body – plural, fragile and unconventional – he has left his mark on the history of dance. When he dies in 2021, Emmanuel Eggermont, with whom he collaborated for over 15 years, will become legatee of his choreographic works. This responsibility
leads him to consider the question of transmission to audiences. Three pieces have been created since then, all possible entries in Raimund Hoghe’s repertoire: About Love and Death, An Evening with Raimund and Simple Things.
