Le sel de la vie

The residency will take place from 20 to 24 January at La chambre d’eau, and is supported and devised by the Centre de développement chorégraphique national le Gymnase.

Le sel de la vie is a performance project designed to be presented in situ from spring 2026. The creative team that will visit La chambre d’eau in January 2025 is made up of choreographer Camille Mutel, photographer Katherine Longly and author Caroline Simonin. The first stage of the work links different regions of France in a documentary-like approach. Set up in different cemeteries, the artists use words, writing and images to record the gestures and objects of the deceased, which remain vivid in the memory and bodies of those who still carry them. They engage us in a dialogue about the little arrangements that each of us makes with our dead. An intimate rendezvous to remember what makes Le sel de la vie.
