TAMANEGI

With the support of Petites Scènes Ouvertes

With Ikue Nakagawa, everything starts with a drawing. In Tamanegi, Japanese for onion, the artist depicts her ailing father surrounded by his family. Accompanied by human-looking puppets, she peels back layer after layer of our relationship with grief. A cross between the choreographic and visual arts, this solo performance sheds light on our need to form a community in the face of intense emotion, aware of the fragility of the ties that bind us together.
