In the Mexican town of Juchitán de Zaragoza, the Muxes – “men with the heart of a woman” – are acknowledged and respected as a third gender, and perform a function of mediation, education and care. Thomas Lebrun and his five performers met them and created Sous les fleurs. Close to a documentary dance in which cultures and experiences intersect and respond to one another, this is a gentle and intimate exploration of masculine femininity.
