The City of Roubaix and the DRAC Hauts-de-France entrust the Gymnase with the coordination of the Local Artistic Education Contract - CLEA - exclusively intended for the institutions and residents of Roubaix and based on the theme of Urban Dance.
For this new CLEA Danses Urbaines, which will run throughout the 2024/2025 school year, Le Gymnase is inviting artists from a variety of backgrounds to broaden the perception of urban dance and introduce young people to the choreographic culture of urban dance practised and created today.
Their presence testifies to the diversity of styles and writing that make up urban dance, and the way in which it can be combined with other artistic fields. With this in mind, the programme also brings together local cultural partners who are already involved in the playground of urban culture.
Based on 3 complementary approaches – practical, sensitive and critical experience – each itinerary draws on the world of the artists as well as the programming of the venues, and is made up of occasional times to raise awareness of urban dance in different experimental forms: lectures, shows, practice, meetings or even performances.
CLEA Urban Dances is linked to the Urbx festival, the Urban Cultures festival in Roubaix and the Lille metropolitan area.
Mission residency led by the City of Roubaix, coordinated by Le Gymnase CDCN, in partnership with the State (DRAC Hauts-de-France, Rectorat de l’Académie de Lille et Direction des Services Départementaux de l’Éducation Nationale du Nord).
